8/365: colourful hope in a devastated garden

This winter hasn’t been very kind to the garden, not least because on Christmas Eve the wind blew down four fence panels which collapsed on top of a flower bed planted only last year. The broken panels have now been lifted and it turns out this beautiful hellebore was hiding beneath all the devastation. It is amazing how hellebores manage to flower in the darkest and bleakest time of the year, a reminder that winter won’t last forever and that the days will now start getting longer and eventually warmer. And perhaps all the other broken and flattened plants will recover and flower too. A day at a time…
